Measuring at four-metres high, GRMT02 is much taller than the typical five-foot Gromit sculptures, and a figurine version of the creation, which is silver with a yellow collar and eyes, has been produced for fans to take home as a memento.
The creature joins the 16 sculptures already situated within the mall as part of charity The Grand Appeal’s Gromit Unleashed exhibition, which was first unveiled on 1 February and is said to have already attracted hundreds of visitors.
The Gromit designs were originally created as part of The Greatest Dog Show On Earth showcase in Hong Kong in July 2014, which was also organised by The Grand Appeal.
GRMT02 will remain in situ until the exhibition closes on 10 April, and all donations received during the showcase will be presented to The Grand Appeal.
Lauren Howard, brand manager, The Grand Appeal said: "Our Hong Kong exhibition has already been a huge hit and is a great way to entertain Gromit fans young and old this half term, especially now the giant GRMT02 has arrived. It’s a great opportunity for fans of our sculptures to see some brand new designs right here in Bristol, Gromit’s home, and of course get a selfie underneath GRMT02.
"All funds raised by donations to the exhibition, as well as all our Gromit Unleashed figurines and merchandise, will help us to continue to support sick children at Bristol Children’s Hospital."
