Google unveils search application for UK small businesses

LONDON - Google has unveiled a device that lets UK businesses search their online communications.

The Google Mini is an integrated hardware and software application that delivers search across a company's intranet or public website, and is available in the UK and Europe.

Small- to medium-sized businesses can search for information across up to 100,000 documents with the appliance, which costs less than £2,000.

Roberto Solimene, European enterprise director at Google, said: "With more webpages, weblogs, corporate information and other content being created, businesses of every size are having difficulty helping their customers and employees quickly find the information they need."

He added: "Using the new Google Mini, more UK and European small and medium-sized businesses can now have Google quality search on their intranet or public website."

The Google Mini comes with one year of support and can be bought online from the Google store.

Most recently, Google signed a deal with Thomson Directories to sell its AdWords targeted pay-per-click text ads service to UK SMEs. Thomson will offer Google AdWords through its online directory ThomsonLocal.com.
