The internet giant has announced the beta launch of AdSense for Mobile Applications allowing brands to take advantage of the growing popularity of mobile apps.

Following months of testing with a handful of brands the Google is now throwing the service open to all advertisers and mobile app developers wishing to take part.

Google plans to target ads to mobile apps contextually, but the company is also working with developers to determine which type of content is most appropriate to trigger ad delivery.

App developers can choose where they'd like ads to be displayed in their app and by adding the relevant piece of code can become part of Google's Content Network.

"Advertisers are looking for ways to reach potential customers when they are engaged with mobile content, and app developers are looking for ways to show the best ads to their users," said a Google spokesman. "We're excited to open up this beta to more developers, and look forward to offering new features for our mobile advertisers and publishers."

To support the launch Google has launched a where advertisers can learn about the benefits of advertising in mobile apps.
