According to product managers at Google Suggest, the introduction of ads to the suggestion box will be rolled out gradually.
"Sometimes we detect that the most relevant completion for what you're typing is an ad. When an ad is shown, we mark it with the text 'Sponsored Link' and a coloured background, as on the results page," said a Google spokesman.
Google will also add links to websites, if it believes a user's first keystrokes indicate they are looking for a specific site.
The changes will eliminate the necessary visit to Google's results page, where the bulk of the search engine's ads are hosted.
In another move designed to make search easier for the user, Google will also introduce suggestions based on the results page already on display, which it said will help users refine results more quickly.
