Watton joins from the Dubai World Trade Centre where he led the exhibition commercial business. He replaces Rebecca Cardozo who left in May.
He has 20 years’ experience in venue management, and 15 years in the exhibition industry having previously worked on shows such as Clothes Show Live, BBC Good Food and The Motor Show. He officially takes up the role on 29 October.
Commenting on his move, Watton said: "I have watched the development and first year of Glow with great interest and excitement. I am delighted, therefore, to be joining to lead the team at what is a unique proposition in the industry, not just in the UK, but internationally.
"Glow's integration with Bluewater, which dominates such a large and affluent catchment, and its lack of comparable competition, makes it a fantastic commercial opportunity for organisers and exhibitors alike."
Robert Goodman, general manager at Bluewater, added: "Michael is a key strategic appointment as Glow prepares to enter its second year. Having been successfully established as a new breed of venue, and welcomed over 600,000 visitors in less than 12 months, Glow is entering a new phase."
