Freeserve to broadcast Glastonbury Festival online

LONDON - Freeserve is to broadcast coverage from this year's Glastonbury Festival for the second year running, following a deal with music site PlayLouder.com, which is handling online streaming of the event.

The online schedule will include up to four live performances a day from the festival, which is this year being headlined by Radiohead, REM and Moby.

Coverage will also include interviews and up-to-the-minute reviews and news during the breaks between live acts. There will also be highlights from last year's event.

Users will be able to view the coverage over a dial-up connection as well as via broadband.

Jon Gisby, Freeserve managing director of portals, said: "Although the webcast can be viewed via a narrowband connection, the streaming really demonstrates the benefits of Freeserve's broadband channel and what it offers our users -- from watching your favourite acts play live, to getting the latest news and sports information and music videos and downloads."

The festival takes place on June 27-29 and the schedule of the webcast will be revealed in the week before the festival. Freeserve will be promoting the coverage with competitions to win exclusive backstage tickets to the festival.

Users will be able download their favourite performances from the festival using the ISP's legal music service . Users can either download tracks permanently to portable music players, or to their PCs on a renewable 30-day basis or by subscribing to a monthly play-list for 拢4.99 a month.
