Fox UK promotes Thorp to managing director

LONDON - Jason Thorp has been promoted to the role of managing director at FX-owner Fox International Channels UK, having worked on the station since it launched in 2004.

He has been moved up from the role of deputy managing director, following the promotion of Hernan Lopez to chief operating officer of the wider Fox International Channels group.

Thorp started working with FX prior to its launch, as vice-president of broadcasting and marketing.

The station is steadily building its audience, with shows including 'Sleeper Cell', 'Carnivale' and 'The Chappelle Show'. Its audience share for the year to date is up by 30% compared with the same point in 2006.

It recently scored its biggest audience to date with the premiere of new US serial killer drama 'Dexter', and is hoping for another hit with the new series of 'Nip/Tuck', which will screen in 2008.

Before joining Fox International Channels UK, Thorp was director of programming at the Sci Fi Channel. He started his career in media at Kinnevik, owner of TV3, in 1990.
