Fox appoints new marketing head for FX UK launch

LONDON - Fox International has appointed a lads mag marketing manager from IPC Media as its head of marketing, in advance of the launch of men's entertainment channel FX UK.

Cecilia Parker joins the News Corporation television network from publisher IPC, where she was marketing manager of titles including Loaded, Living Etc and the now defunct Later.

Parker has a strong entertainment industry background, having previously worked at the Paramount Comedy Channel on above-the-line campaigns to promote 'Father Ted' and 'Frank Skinner', and at Universal Studios Networks.

The new channel's vice-president of broadcasting and marketing, Jason Thorp, said: "The strength and scope of Cecilia's experience makes her a very welcome addition to an already strong team."

FX UK is the first entertainment network to target 25- to 44-year-old men -- a category the channel has named "Adultman". It will launch on January 4 on the Sky Digital platform.

The programming will be a mix of UK premieres and films, specials and series from US and UK distributors, including Comedy Central's 'The Man Show' and HBO's 'The Mind of the Married Man'.
