Fox Kids hires pan-Euro marketing chief

LONDON - Fox Kids Europe has hired Naomi Dearsley from Nickelodeon UK to be its pan-European head of marketing.

Dearsley has been marketing manager at rival children's network Nickelodeon since 1998. At Fox Kids Europe, she will report to Shari Donnenfeld, executive director of research and marketing, and will have responsibility for the channel's marketing on a pan-European basis.

Fox has also appointed Mark Leigh as event manager. Leigh joins the channel from Adidas UK, where he was sports marketing manager.

He will take responsibility for Fox's international annual football championship for children. Last year, the event involved 140,000 competitors from Europe, Latin America and the USA, and culminated in a final in Barcelona, where 400 children played.

The appointments represent an expansion of Fox's marketing efforts in Europe, following the creation of a new marketing and research team at the channel in 2000.
