Dobie, formerly head of marketing services at Equifax, will develop GMAP's business, which services retailers by developing retail networks, sales territories and market channels and helping companies understand the market dynamics between consumers and retailers.
Doble said: "The combined data assets of the Skipton Information Group means that GMAP's offering can now enable clients in-house retail planners and retail marketers to create a joined-up approach to location optimisation, market intelligence and marketing campaign strategies."
Before working at Equifax, Dobie oversaw the relaunch and development of a new strategy for competitor Experian. As sales and marketing manager of the Experian business strategies division, he helped grow the company from a virtual start-up in the early 1990s to a market player across multiple countries.
Mike Green, Skipton chief executive, said: "Kirk will be an invaluable asset to the ongoing development of both GMAP and the wider group."
