Former Bebo exec Angel Gambino resurfaces in Argentina

LONDON - Latin American social networking site Sonico has appointed former Bebo executive Angel Gambino as vice president of business development.

Gambino, who will be based at Sonico's headquarters in Buenos Aires, Argentina, will be responsible for defining the strategy and developing partnerships, with emphasis on increasing multi-device engagement and revenue through content and applications.

She said: "I am excited to join the social media experts at to help build a stronger and more sustainable bridge for brands and other potential partners focusing on growth markets."

Gambino held the position of global vice president of music and content at Bebo where she played a key role in accelerating the growth of the company. 

Prior to , Gambino was vice president of commercial, strategy and digital media for MTV Networks.

She also worked in business development at the BBC where she led the development and launch of the BBC's first mobile and broadband services, including its iPlayer.

Sonico was founded in July 2007 and markets itself as "the social network of Latin America that organises people's lives". The site has over 42 million registered users.
