As well as choosing Zapcode after looking four different suppliers, Topps Tiles is also using Capscan Bureau Services to cleanse and de-duplicate its trade customer database.
Topps has licensed the Zapcode database for use from in-store electronic point of sale terminals. Stores have to capture the addresses of every new customer and Zapcode allows them to quickly find the address by inputting a postcode.
Colin Hampson, IT director at Topps Tiles, said: "Using Zapcode reduces the average transaction completion time and this means any returns can be dealt with efficiently as we already have the customers' correct details."
The tile and wood flooring retailer also used Capscan Bureau Services to improve the data quality of its existing customer database.
Hampson said: "Ninety per cent of the addresses in the database were of poor quality and there were a lot of duplicate records, which would have taken a long time to find and eradicate manually."
