Five of Islington's top venues for hire

The London Borough of Islington has a variety of venues available for hire, from large blank canvas spaces through to quirky options with a theme.

Islington Metalworks

Islington Metalworks encompasses a number of spaces that are suitable for events ranging from fashion shows and exhibitions through to weddings and live music performances. 

The venue features three bars, including the tube carriage cocktail bar in the courtyard, meanwhile the restaurant and club areas also house a bar each. Together the three spaces can host up to 500 people, or they can be hired out separately.

Islington Metalworks is equipped to handle all catering for events. Its restaurant has a capacity for 120 people and an indoor barbeque area is also available for use at events.

Barrio North

Mexican-style restaurant and cocktail bar Barrio North is a great option for themed events. The venue is split into different sections, including La Caravana – an old customised touring caravan along with a trailer park, cocktail cabana and dance floor, enabling guests to relax as they please.

The entire venue can host up to 200 standing guests and 75 seated. Individual areas are also available for hire. Barrio Chino is equipped with a DJ booth and other music playing facilities, as well as a projector, microphone and free Wifi.

Business Design Centre

The Business Design Centre can host events including banquets, exhibitions and conferences. The main exhibition space spans more than 2,000 square metres and includes 24 gallery bays, which can be used for meetings and presentations. 

The Gallery Hall is best suited to exhibitions and large conferences, or as a catering area for such events. It is equipped with a hearing loop to ensure delegates can hear presentations, Wi-Fi, a dedicated phone line, colour scanner/printer and more.

The auditorium has a capacity of around 500 delegates, and can seat 268 people in a tiered seating structure. Rooms A through to H can also be used for conferences and meetings of varying sizes.

Union Chapel

Union Chapel's main auditorium has a capacity of 900 people, 400 of which are seated in the gallery. The space is often used for live events, and it can be booked for conferences and meetings. 

The venue also spans a studio theatre, which is to be booked out for block periods of at least a week, along with an upper hall and bar area that can be used for rehearsals in the day and as a bar in the evening. The lower hall and committee rooms are smaller in size, making them suitable for meetings.

Gracepoint

This historic Grade II* Listed Building, which was once the Carlton Cinema, has recently been restored to reflect its original structure. It offers a theatre-style space, and its auditorium can seat up to 940 guests.

The auditorium is equipped with stage facilities including a high resolution rear projected screen and sound and lighting system. The venue also features a reception area and large inner foyer.
