Home is the product of a merger between arts organisations Cornerhouse and the Library Theatre Company.

The space, in the city's new First Street development, will be a centre for international contemporary art, theatre, film and books when it opens at the end of April. The £25m project was partly funded by Arts Council England and Manchester City Council. Dutch architect Mecanoo designed the building.

Alongside acting as a creative hub for the arts, Home will provide spaces for meetings, cultural experiences, mid-sized conferences, corporate events and parties. Venues for hire include two theatres, the first of which can host up to 500 guests, five cinemas, a 500sqm gallery space and a meeting room with outside terrace, able to host 100 for a reception. Home expects to be offering its full event hire service from the autumn.

Dave Moutrey, director and chief executive of Home, said: "This is the latest high-profile addition to Manchester's cultural scene, which is a big part of why people want to live, work and invest in the city.

"With its central location, Home is well connected to the city and offers meeting spaces, exciting cultural experiences and a lively atmosphere, making it an inspiring location for a wide range of events."
