The , called "No fuel day - Monday 19th of November 2007", is opposed to the UK government's further tax increase on fuel.
The new levy of 2p a litre has resulted in petrol prices regularly floating above an average of £1 per litre.
The group launched an event called "Boycott BP" last Saturday November 10, in an attempt to force BP to drop its prices and drive competition among the other fuel companies. It plans to continue the BP boycott until Sunday December 9, according to the group's Facebook page.
The creator, Dave Green from London, wrote: "Remember one thing, not only is the price of fuel going up, but at the same time airlines are forced to raise their prices and road haulage companies are forced to raise their prices, which effects prices on everything that is shipped.
"This includes things like food, clothing, building materials, medical supplies etc.
"Who pays in the end? We do! Our wages will not be rising at the same rate either! Without taking action the price per litre will continue to rise.
"We can make a difference. If the government doesn't get the message after one day, we will do it again and again!"
Word is spreading fast -- the group has added 200 more members in less than an hour this morning, bringing its number to 152,619. The group was formed under a month ago on October 23.
