The , which was updated today, includes an NSPCC Deeds section that enables users to commit to perform a deed and challenge their friends to do the same deed or perform others.

Along with the new wall tab and the inclusion of video content, the application now includes voting, feedback and comment functions.

It has been designed to build brand engagement and drive action by creating a community around the common interest of preventing cruelty to children.

NSPCC supporters in the UK can load the group's Facebook application to get involved in NSPCC events, donate and raise money.

Almost 12,000 users have installed the application since it first launched in September this year, and £2,765 has been donated.

Emily Knee, senior digital account manager at NSPCC, said: "We are really excited by the second phase of the Facebook application and pleased with how Facebook users are interacting with the NSPCC online to date.

"By giving the users quick and easy ways to make a big difference to children everywhere, we hope our latest offering will encourage users to engage even further with our cause."
