FA secretary Faria Alam reveals all in TV interview

LONDON – Faria Alam, the woman at the centre of the 'Svengate' affair, declared her love for the England manager and hit out at her former FA bosses during an ITV interview last night.

Alam, 38, gave her first TV interview with Fiona Foster on 'Tonight with Trevor McDonald' last night and will reveal more details this evening.

She broke down in tears after confessing the affair and her love for Sven-Goran Eriksson, even though she admitted only sleeping with him once.

Alam went on to say she feared the Swede would return to his long-standing girlfriend, Italian lawyer Nancy Del'Olio, and criticised the Football Association for their treatment of her over the affair.

Alam lost her job while Eriksson was allowed to continue as the manager of the England squad.

The former FA secretary is believed to have received about £75,000 for the interview.

It was reported on Thursday that Alam stands to make in excess of £500,000 for selling her story to the media. The News of the World and the Mail on Sunday both carried details of her affair yesterday.

The second part of 'Sven and Me – the Faria Alam Story' will be screened tonight at 10pm. She will reveal details of her affair with Mark Palios, the ex-FA chief executive whom she admitted chasing.
