Beckham to send up text affair in the name of charity

LONDON - David Beckham will appear in a film for Sport Relief on BBC One, spoofing his alleged text affair with Rebecca Loos in an interview with comedian Paul Whitehouse.

The short film, to be shown on Saturday July 10, will see Paul Whitehouse star as comic character Ron Manager and Beckham as himself. They will discuss football tactics, while being constantly interrupted by text messages from Beckham's phone, parodying his "text affair" with Loos.

The film, in aid of Sport Relief 04, set up by Comic Relief and BBC Sport, will use the power and passion of sport to tackle poverty in the UK and some of the world's poorest countries.

Even Victoria Beckham has taken part by visiting Peru to meet 11-year-old Dinah, who lives and works on a rubbish tip, to see how much Sport Relief has changed her life.

The night's entertainment will also include the ultimate battle of the sports quiz shows in 'They Think It's All Over a Question of Sport' and a celebrity boxing match between former 'EastEnder' Sid Owen and TV presenter Ben Fogle.
