My Event World - Tim Reeves

Caterer Blistering's director Tim Reeves is not just about the food, he used to own a record label and loves nothing better than fishing and growing his own vegetables.

I got into events because ... I had originally worked for Fisher lighting back in 1987 before heading off into the music business where I was always organising parties and club nights. After that, I came back into the events business where I started chefing for a catering company before setting up Blistering.

I have worked here since ... 1997

I was attracted to this particular role because ... apart from being my own boss, it gave me the opportunity to cook the style of food I love.

Not many people know that ... I used to be in the record industry and had my own record label called Tomato Records

My worst experience at an event was ... an event being cancelled at the last minute with 250 staff on site and food and drink for 7,500 guests ready to go. What made it worse is that is happened two years in a row.

If there's one thing I've learnt it's
... think on your feet, there's always a solution to the problem.

The best event I've been involved in was ... a corporate running event for 15,000 which we did for five consecutive years.

If I could do it all over again
... I would hold my 41st birthday party all over again.

The one thing I can't stand is ... jobs worths on site - you know who you are.

Outside of work I spend my time ... being a full time dad to four gorgeous children,  growing veg, running and fishing.

If money were no object... I would fly a plane full of industry mates to the best party on the planet, The Burning Man Festival in Nevada, USA

The one event I will never miss is
... The mud at Glastonbury

The recession has meant ... tightening of belts all round

The next 12 months will be ... better

If I could switch places with anyone else in the industry... I would like to be Lucy Gemmel of Rhubarb

If I ruled the event industry ... I would probably be a nervous wreck
