I got into the events industry because I was already working as an artistes agent and accepted a position at Trust House Forte Events. This was an exciting move into a field where I could utilise my past experience and learn new skills.

I have worked here since I founded the company in 1992.

I was attracted to this particular role because as an ex-performer, it provided a natural progression in my career, and gave me the chance to continue to work within an area I was passionate about.

Not many people know that I'm actually a Brummie.

My worst experience at an event was for only me to know about. It's part of my job to ensure in every way possible that a client never has a bad event experience. What goes on behind the scenes is between myself and my colleagues.

If there's one thing I've learnt it's you're only as good as the team you work with.

The best event I've been involved in was a corporate client's 50th anniversary celebration, which took place over three days travelling around the Med. There was a fantastic array of artists and speakers including Sir Elton John, José Cura, Benjamin Zander, the cast of Umoja and Ennio Marchetto to name just a few.

If I could do it all over again I would not have subjected the world to my singing voice. But if you are interested I have a few boxes of singles still left in the garage.

The one thing I can't stand is rudeness.

Outside of work I spend my time relaxing with friends, going to the theatre, cooking, eating and then exercising - I am a huge pilates fan.

If money were no object I would take a bunch of friends around the world and fulfil the rest of my travel dreams.

The one event I will never miss is the Strictly Come Dancing Live tour, as we have the pleasure of representing two of the show's professional dance stars, Darren Bennett and Lilia Kopylova.

The recession has meant that budgets are tighter and our negotiations stronger.

The next 12 months will be focussed on launching our new website. By maximising user experience, we will be able to respond to clients even faster and more efficiently than ever before. And, as usual we will be on the look out for fantastic new speakers, presenters and performers.

If I could switch places with anyone else in the industry it would be no one. I love what I do.

If I ruled the event industry I would change the perspective of the client/supplier relationship. People sometimes fail to recognise the real value of the time and creative effort invested in the lead up to winning business.
