I got into the events industry because it was a natural progression. I was catering and clients were asking for more services. There wasn’t such an established industry then. I loved the creative aspect of event planning and the magic that could be created when a room was transformed into something so unexpected.

I have worked here since way too many years to tell you.

I was attracted to this particular role because I am a control freak so needed to be my own boss.

Not many people know that I have been successful because I surround myself with very talented switched-on people who make the days fun for me.

My worst experience at an event was in this business we could all write books about what goes on at events, but what makes a good planner is that "all’s well that ends well".

If there’s one thing I’ve learnt it’s to put it on paper.

The best event I’ve been involved in was – there are way too many amazing events to pick just one. I have done events all over the world and there are so many that were unbelievable, however, for me the ones that are the most challenging are the most fun. When it seems impossible and then it all comes together and the guests are having a ball, that’s really what I love.

If I could do it all over again I would absolutely, but hopefully I won’t have to.

The one thing I can’t stand is when people think the events business is all fun and glamour.

Outside of work I spend my time travelling (the best thing for inspiration), golfing, cooking and shopping of course.

If money were no object – I don’t have enough paper for that answer.

The one event I will never miss is dinner with Nelson Mandela or the Queen if I can pick two?

The next 12 months will be a lot of amazing travel, working on some great Olympic events, adding a lot of fabulous new pieces to our line of existing furniture, and hopefully a little more exercise.

If I could switch places with anyone else in the industry it would be no one. I have the best job.

If I ruled the event industry it would be a lot prettier if I do say so myself, and people wouldn’t take themselves so seriously.
