I got into the events industry because I got an internship at Big Apple Circus in New York and knew from the first day I loved organising projects and managing logistical challenges.

I have worked here since I did two weeks unpaid work experience in July 2005 and am still here seven years later.

I was attracted to this particular role because one of my biggest passions is for sport and the thought of working for a company that has mass participation sports events at the centre of its ethos was unmissable.

Not many people know that I was a watch leader on the sail Training Schooner Malcolm Miller.

My worst experience at an event happened whilst working with a global sports brand. We were about to announce the names of the finalists for an event on stage when someone started screaming in my earpiece "we have an incorrect name". The next thing I saw was a member of my team commando rolling across the floor of the dining room to get the right name. The MC was feverishly ad-libbing until we had the information required. When I did get the name and tried to communicate to my show manager, time stopped and my mind went blank trying to remember what the phonetic word for G. It is funny now when describing in the pub, it was not at all funny at the time.

If there is one thing I have learnt it’s you only get out what you put in.

The best event I’ve been involved in was the inaugural Royal Parks Foundation Half Marathon - new event, new course, new challenge, new successes.

If I could do it all over again I would get more sleep at uni.

The one thing I can’t stand is laziness, strive for the best for yourself, your team and your business.

Outside of work I spend my time running, playing hockey, travelling and drinking wine with my girls.

If money were no object I would buy a yacht (a proper yacht not a ‘gin palace’) and sail around the world having as many adventures as I could find.

The one event I will never miss Royal Parks Half Marathon, also any event where I can help my team.

The next 12 months will be spectacularly exciting, exceptionally challenging and potentially career defining but it’s the year London hosts the Olympics would we expect anything else?

If I could switch places with anyone else in the industry it would be the person responsible for delivering the Olympic legacy to UK young people.

If I ruled the event industry I would set up industry wide training standards for generic functions such as foundation traffic management planning.
