The shop will be open for three days until 12 December. It has been kitted to look like a store from the 1990s in a nod to the PlayStation’s heritage.
For one day only, the pop-up will sell 94 limited edition PS4 consoles for £19.94 each, alongside other merchandise such as jumpers, socks and other apparel from clothing retailer Insert Coin. Once avid gamers discovered the shop’s location on Bethnal Green Road, they queued in their masses last night (9 December) and this morning for entry wristbands.
Those that missed out on today’s entry have been provided with entry for the other two days, where the special console will be sold at the full retail price. All proceeds from the pop-up will go towards gaming charity Games Aid.
PlayStation alluded to the experience over Twitter and its YouTube channel, Access TV, for 24 hours before the full plans were revealed. The brand has consoled disappointed fans outside of the capital on social media by hinting that more 20th anniversary activities are to come.
