Event TV: MoneySuperMarket pedals energy at culinary brand experience

Last week (22 October) saw price comparison site MoneySuperMarket host a environmentally friendly brand experience, where guests pedalled the energy needed to cook a meal.

The company challenged Pratap Chahal – otherwise known as That Hungry Chef – to cook a dish in 5.2 minutes at Jenius Social in north London. The time was chosen to highlight how quick it can be to switch energy tariff.

Guests used bikes provided by Electric Pedals to power the hob used by Chahal. The technology was joined to a single source of DC power, which was passed through the element of a 12v/150w frying pan.

The harder they cycled, the hotter the pan became.

Chahal served up a three course meal featuring Goan spiced pulled pork on toast, south Indian rice pancakes filled with masala potatoes and chili chocolate mousse with frankincense crumble.

Georgina Gallop, organic performance strategist at MoneySuperMarket, said: "At MoneySuperMarket we wanted to highlight that it takes just over five minutes to find a new energy supplier. So what we did was invite a number of influencers and journalists down to Jenius Social to pedal for just over five minutes for a meal cooked by That Hungry Chef, Pratap."
