Set up earlier this year, the scheme aims to raise enough funds to transform the life of the inhabitants of Ugandan village Namuwongo.

As a result of the monies raised so far, work in the village has included rubbish and drain clearance, which has relieved local flooding and reduced the risk of disease.

Next the charity funds will be used to start building latrines and setting up rubbish and recycling points. While they are also being used for the Walk to School scheme, which helps to provide education for the village's children.

So far 147 children are being sponsored by event industry folk with their money going towards school books, school fees, meals and the support of a social worker.

To help raise more funds the industry has been involved in a number of other fundraising activities including Mark and Lisa Steel from Imago Techmedia who cycled 400km across Kenya for five days.

In 2013 the Tarsus Group and Herma UK will be planning to raise £15,000 by cycling from Herma UK's headquarters in Newbury to Labelexpo in Brussels.
