Evening Standard slips 1.65% as City AM hits new record

LONDON - The Evening Standard's circulation dropped back below 300,000 copies in June with a 1.65% decrease, while City AM reached a new distribution record, according to the latest ABC figures.

The Standard's average daily circulation in June was 295,379, down from 300,330 in May. The fall occurred despite the Associated title increasing its bulk distribution to 123,635, up from 115,210 in May.

The paper's six-month average is 290,390, which is up 7.27% year on year.

Out of the free newspapers targeting London, City AM, thelondonpaper and Metro London all posted small circulation increases.

City AM's circulation grew by just 0.12% from 101,758 copies in May to 101,855 copies in June. This is a new distribution record for the paper, after climbing above the 100,000 mark for the first time in May.

Its six-month average is up by 0.84% year on year to 97,497 copies.

Thelondonpaper's circulation rose 0.11% from 500,235 in May to 500,800 in June. Its six-month average is 500,679, up 3% year on year.

This is the first time the paper has recorded a 500k six-monthly average.

Its rival, London Lite, fell 0.17% to 400,739 copies, down from 401,421 in May. However, Lite's six-month average trend remains positive and is up by 0.41% year on year to 399,860 copies.

Metro's London circulation grew by 0.26% month on month from 746,794 copies in May to 748,759 copies in June, while its six-month average is up 36.65% to 747,057.

Finally, Metro's UK circulation stayed fairly static, rising by just 0.03% to 1,360,597 and its six-month average is up by 22.31% year on year to 1,359,559.
