Evening Standard and City AM climb in London

LONDON - The Evening Standard has taken its circulation back above 300,000 with a 6.81% rise, while City AM breached the 100,000 mark for the first time this year in the May newspaper ABCs.

The Standard's average daily circulation in May was 300,330, up from 281,187 in April, although a massive increase from 99,711 to 115,210 in its bulks distribution accounted for much of the uplift.

City AM's 1.85% increase saw it climb above the 100,000 mark, with its final tally for May totalling 101,758.

Figures for rivals London Lite and thelondonpaper remained almost unchanged in May. The Lite slipped 0.21% to 401,421 and thelondonpaper was down 0.13% to 500,235.

Metro remained London's leading free newspaper, sliding by just 0.03% -- or just 212 copies -- from its April figure to finish on 746,794 in May.
