NS&I is a government agency offering savings and investment products including premium bonds and savings certificates, and has around 26m customers. It has been tasked with raising an extra £15bn net financing for the government by the end of the 2007-2008 financial year.
It has made the move in order to improve its understanding of its customer base so that it can communicate better with customers and ultimately develop new products and channels.
The records will be cleaned, enhanced and consolidated to provide a single view of the customer. EuroDirect will be working closely with Siemens Business Services, which hosts the database, to implement the new systems.
Phil Corcoran, head of customer insight at NS&I, said: "EuroDirect's appointment will build on the progress we have made over the last five years through our partnership with Siemens Business Services and ensure we maximise the efficiency of our database."
EuroDirect will clean the database using datasets including the postal address file, electoral roll, national change of address file, GoneAway suppression file, deceased files and NS&I's internal suppression files.
The records will be enhanced with data from EuroDirect's Data Exchange and Cameo classifications suite, and public credit data from EuroDirect's sister credit referencing agency Callcredit.
