The UK's fourth-largest energy company, with almost 6m customers, has hired EuroDirect to identify potential customers based on energy consumption.
A selection of current customers, lapsed customer postcodes and a random sample of individuals will be used to find potential prospects.
Each sample will be profiled against EuroDirect's suite of Cameo Classifications and Data Exchange, which includes more than 250 variables for the company to identify attributes that best discriminate its customers.
The data will also build a picture of customers' life-stage, affluence, credit risk, shareholder activity, property price, employment, age and occupation.
The prospect data will be made available to the SSE sales team every day of the year to enable the team to segment the data and plan future sales and marketing activities.
Ewan Currie, energy sales data manager at SSE, said: "It is great to be working with a company like EuroDirect, which like ourselves has fresh and innovative ideas.
"Using its software enables us to bring our thoughts to fruition in order to get the most from available data in the marketplace and thereby increase sales and offer even better value for money."
