Chime Communications, the group that owns Fast Track and Essentially, has moved to bolster its Olympic credentials with the acquisition of Pmplegacy.

The sporting events consultancy, headed by Peter Mann, has worked on events including the Olympic and Paralympic Games, and the cricket, football and rugby World Cups in its 20-year history.

The move is designed to put the major PR, events and advertising group at the forefront of bidding for major sporting events.

"Developing global major event bidding expertise is a clear area of focus for the sports marketing division of Chime Communications," said Chime sports marketing division chief executive Jim Glover.

"As our work is increasingly becoming more international, this acquisition marks an important move for us in our ambition to work even more closely with cities, governing bodies and bid committees on insightful strategies and activation plans to win major global events."

Chime already boasts London 2012 bid vice-chairman Alan Pascoe as chairman of its sports marketing division.

Last year the group . Former Sun editor Stuart Higgins’ PR business also sits in the same division.
