Financial services company Erste Group's animated festive spot stars a grouchy old musician.

The ad follows an old man called Edgar as he begrudgingly potters around a care home. Reluctant to wear his hearing aid, the old man keeps to himself until a care worker finds that he has a passion for music. It ends as Edgar is given access to a piano and finally puts on his hearing aid for an impromptu performance with his fellow musicians.

The work was written by Caspar Satek, art directed by Mike Nagy and Caspar Satek, and directed by Kyra  Buschor and Constantin Paeplow through Passion Animation Studios. Media is handled by Wavemaker.

Last year’s Christmas ad starred two bumblebees with a passion for aviation.
