EMI hires Amazon's Eilon to build email marketing

LONDON - EMI Music is planning to build an email marketing programme and has appointed Amazon's Shai Eilon to take on the new role of CRM manager.

Eilon was previously email marketing manager at Amazon.co.uk, where he managed the retailer's email marketing strategy. At EMI, he will develop and implement an email customer relationship marketing programme across all of the company's music labels, with the aim of maximising the sales potential of its database.

Rachel Stones, head of market and consumer analysis at EMI Music UK, said: "Shai has proven experience in implementing and managing successful eCRM programmes, which will allow us to maximise our digital channels: cross and upselling to drive revenue across our extensive consumer base."

Before joining Amazon, Eilon worked at Ticketmaster where he was responsible for the company's offline and online direct marketing activities, maximising the value from the company's database.

Eilon said: "The eCRM strategy will allow us to make the most out of our new-media developments, providing online and mobile music content. Ultimately, we intend to strengthen the relationship and expand the dialogue we have with consumers, delivering what they want and when they want it."
