Emap looks for new editor of car magazine Max Power

LONDON - Performance motoring magazine Max Power is looking for a new editor, following the promotion of John Sootheran to editor-in-chief.

Sootheran became editor of the EMAP title, currently the UK's best-selling performance car magazine, in 1999. He oversaw a circulation surge from 176,000 to 237,000, which put the title ahead of all other consumer car monthlies. The magazine's last audited circulation figures were up 10% on last year. Its nearest rival, Fast Car, sells 127,620 copies.

Summing up his editorial approach, Sootheran said: "The levels of awareness of the Max Power brand are sky-high among young men. Much of this comes from communicating with our target audience in a language and style they understand, and living on the edge of taste, decency and the law."

The magazine runs an annual show, Max Power Live, which opens tomorrow and is currently being advertised with ads showing glamour model Jordan posing with two friends and a red sports car.
