Due Date helps Stolichnaya Vodka deliver 764,000 impacts

Robert Downey Jr comedy 'Due Date' helped an ad for Stolichnaya Vodka achieve over 764,000 impacts last weekend, according to figures from Digital Cinema Media.

The ad, created by MEC which also planned and bought the media, stars Hollywood actress Julia Stiles.

Stiles appears as herself in the ad and the film uses special effects to make it look as if she is meeting up with herself for a drink in a bar. The two Stiles’ chat and order Stoli vodka and have an ironic conversation about how much money the actress is paid.

It ends with the strapline; "Would you have a drink with you? The most original people deserve the most original vodka."

'Due Date', also starring Zach Galifianakis, held onto the top spot at the UK box office last weekend, taking £1.9m. Since its release two weeks ago, the film has grossed £5.8m.

The ad also ran against the low-budget sci-fi flick 'Skyline', which grossed £1.21m across 381 screens last weekend. The film about an alien invasion, directed by visual effects artists Colin and Greg Srause, stars 'Six Feet Under' star Eric Balfour.

The ad also ran against other films such as the new Mike Leigh film 'Another Year' and 'The Kids Are Alright', which stars Julianne Moore and Annette Bening and tells the story of a lesbian couple, their teenage children and the sperm donor who fathered them.

This week Digital Cinema Media launched a 3D video featuring performers from 'Strictly Come Dancing', to help raise funds for BBC Children in Need.

The three-minute promo, produced in partnership between BBC Entertainment and BBC Studios & Post Production, was shot in 3D and features 'Strictly Come Dancing' performers Flavia Cacace, James Jordan, Artem Chigvintsev, Robin Windsor and Vincent Simone.

The spot will be screened on Digital Cinema Media’s 3D screens nationwide, for two weeks and will be shown before select 3D feature films.

Jeremy Playle, sales director at DCM said: "We’ve seen huge audience numbers for 3D films this year, and the buzz generated from films like Toy Story 3 and the upcoming Tron Legacy has been unprecedented. We are delighted the BBC has chosen to use cinema to showcase its 3D production skills and to publicise the BBC Children in Need Appeal to cinemagoers."
