Drug companies to benefit from Swine Flu fears

LONDON - British pharmaceutical company Clinova is promoting its Covaflu face masks with national press ads as the fears over widespread swine flu outbreaks intensify.

Drug companies to benefit from Swine Flu fears

The press ads in The Sunday Times promote the face masks as ‘swine flu protection', claiming they will ‘filter out at least 99% of viral particles, unlike ordinary surgical masks'.

The ads drive consumers to a website and phone number to order the masks.

Drugs giants GlaxoSmithKline and Roche are also expected to benefit from Swine Flu, racking up over £1bn selling anti-viral drugs Tamiflu and Relenza.

The NHS is aiming to vaccinate everyone in the UK against Swine Flu in the coming months.
