Dow Jones appoints Guardian's Leaver to online development role

LONDON - Dow Jones has appointed Tristan Leaver, formerly of Guardian News & Media, to a newly created senior role at The Wall Street Journal digital network.

Leaver will take up the position of director of business and audience development for The Wall Street Journal digital network across EMEA.

He will be responsible for digital business strategy for Dow Jones' websites, which include the flagship WSJ.com, Barrons.com, and Marketwatch.com. He will oversee traffic generation, revenues, branding and content across the three sites.

He will be based in London where he will report to Michael Bergmeijer, the head of Dow Jones' consumer media group in Europe.

Bergmeijer said: "With more than one million paying subscribers for and the growing audience for and , The Wall Street Journal digital network represents the most successful group of premium business and financial information sites in the US. It's now our opportunity to replicate this success in Europe, the Middle East and Africa."

Leaver joins Dow Jones after 11 years at Guardian News & Media. In 2004 he was named head of business development for Guardian Unlimited and in 2007 was promoted to head of business development across all of Guardian News & Media's brands.
