Daily Mail & General Trust (DMGT) consumer digital leader Richard Titus is to leave the business as part of a cost-cutting move that folds its digital business into A&N Media and discards his role.

Titus was chief executive of Associated Northcliffe Digital (And), the group's standalone digital unit, housing brands such as Motors.co.uk and Teletextholidays.co.uk.

The cost-cutting move will mean that  that the chief executives of And's four units – The Digital Property Group, Jobsite Group, Travel Group and Motors Group – will report to Kevin Beatty, the managing director of A&N Media, which houses its national newspapers.

In effect, And will effectively be subsumed into A&N Media as a result of the changes. DMGT was unavailable to comment on whether there would be further job cuts because of the move.

Beatty informed staff of the changes yesterday (Thursday) citing "economic conditions" as the reason for the move.

In an email to staff, Beatty said: "In light of the current economic conditions, A&N Media has decided to streamline the organisational structure around its digital activities.

"The CEOs of The Digital Property Group, Jobsite Group, Travel Group and Motors Group will all now report to me with immediate effect.

"As part of this change, Richard Titus, previously CEO of And, will be departing the organisation, though he will remain engaged with both A&N Media and DMGT as a consultant and adviser on various strategic, digital and consumer issues."

Titus, who joined a year ago, was previously future media controller of audio and music at the BBC, and contributed to high profile projects including the iPlayer. He reported into Beatty at DMGT.
