The new Disney.co.uk, from Walt Disney Internet Group, aims to develop a community, encouraging users to make and chat to online friends, create and publish bespoke themed areas.
Videos, games and music have been developed, exploiting the rich media potential offered by fast broadband connections, aiming to lure both children and adults.
Disney Xtreme Digital (Disney XD) is the customisable, community-based site hub. Users can publish and personalise a customised area with Disney videos, music, games, quizzes and avatars, create and share playlists and compete on games.
Disney has also added a fresh raft of content from its portfolio of stories, characters and entertainment brands.
At the games area, users can buy games for online or mobile use, and access Disney's virtual worlds, Toontown and Club Penguin.
To navigate the site, users can search by category (movies, TV, music etc), by character (Mickey Mouse, Hannah Montana etc) and by segment (preschoolers, boys, girls, teens and families).
Online safety has been incorporated to the site, including age appropriate levels of online chat and tools to prevent personal information being exchanges.
Disney.co.uk is set to launch on 10th December, 2007.
