Dennis's gadget shot above newspaper apps by the Telegraph and the London Evening Standard, which are ranked fifth and sixth respectively. Since launching on Friday (24 September), the app has had more than 11,000 downloads.
The app is described on the Apple Store as "like a magazine, website and TV show wrapped up in one" and features HD video reviews and features.
James Tye, Dennis Publishing’s chief executive, said: "We've been doing digital magazines for four years, so it’s not a huge mindset change for us – it’s a natural evolution.
"It's completely designed for the iPad. It's not just a portal for the mag, it's fully interactive from the ground up."
Dennis is set to launch an iPad app for Monkey, its online men's magazine, this month. The magazine currently claims to have 285,000 users, although this is not an officially audited figure.
