Dennis builds sales team for Monkey digital magazine

LONDON - Dennis Publishing has appointed James Stapleton as a senior sales executive to develop new business on its digital men's magazine Monkey.

Stapleton is the first salesperson dedicated solely to Monkey, which has been delivered in a weekly email since its launch in November.

Ad sales have until now been handled by Dennis' interactive sales team, which handles the company's 12 online publications. Stapleton is expected to raise Monkey's profile and build on client relationships, reporting to Jenny Sinnot, ad manager on the interactive sales team.

He joins after 18 months at the National Magazine Company, where he was a display executive and supervised the relaunch of House Beautiful Online.

Stapleton said: "I'm thrilled to be joining Dennis to work on what is the most innovative launch into the men's market in recent years."

Monkey recently ran a series of double-page spreads using audio-visuals to tell the story of a man at the Lynx mansion being seduced by young women.

There are currently more than 250,000 subscribers to the free magazine and it is hoped this new appointment will drive figures even higher.

St John Betteridge, Dennis Publishing's group advertising director, said: "James is a valuable addition to our sales team with a fantastic knowledge of the men's magazine and website marketplaces.

"His passion for Monkey will allow us to take the magazine's profile to the next level amongst our client and agency customers."
