Dennis appoints agencies for poker magazine launch campaign

LONDON - Dennis Publishing has appointed BLM and Flint for the launch of Poker Player, its first magazine dedicated to the card game.

The media strategy is to use 30-second interactive TV ads placed in poker programming on channels, such as Challenge, sold by IDS.

The interactivity will allow the audience to sample the magazine and request three free issues.

Phil Harper, account manager at BLM, said: "Getting the magazine in front of enthusiasts while they are actively involved in poker is the ideal way to get the magazine in the right hands."

The magazine is available from September 22 at the introductory price of £1. It aims to entertain readers and teach them how to play the game better.

Richard Downey, publisher at Dennis' gambling division, said: "Poker Player will be a magazine that appeals to everybody with an interest in the game, no matter what the level of their experience and I believe our TV ad reflects this really well."
