Crown Paints relaunches site with 3D colour schemes

LONDON - Crown Paints has relaunched its website to feature a 3D visualisation tool to let customers choose and view colour schemes in a variety of rooms.

The 3D tool allows site users to try out . At the moment rooms include a kitchen and a bedroom, among others, but more will be added. The rooms can also be viewed in daylight and at night, to see the effect of natural and artificial lighting on the colour scheme.

Other tools on the site for people wanting to decorate their houses are an ideas library, a section detailing all of the Crown paint colours and finishes available, and a help and advice section, with information about DIY.

Paint samples can also be ordered from the site. Visitors can choose up to five different colours they would like to sample, which will then be posted out as A3 sheets of paper, without any charge to customers. These are swatches of the actual paint, rather than a printed version of the colour, to ensure accuracy.

The website has been built by Manchester-based agency . It won the Crown Paint account in January after a three-way pitch.

Code worked with 3D specialists Real Time to implement the tool, which uses flash animation.

Tony Foggett, managing director of Code Computerlove, said: "Colour is 'living' -- it takes on different effects, in different rooms at different times of the day. So we've created a device that allows consumers looking for colour inspiration to view how each paint colour and scheme can look in photo-realistic room sets.

"Customers won't get bored of playing with it as it has more than 500 different colour schemes created by Crown to implement in each of the five room sets."
