
Coppel was previously chief strategy officer, reporting directly to the company’s chairman and CEO, Terry Semel. He has been involved in key global strategic decisions, including internal development, mergers, acquisitions, investments, strategic partnerships and joint ventures.
Since joining the firm in 2001, Coppel has been heavily involved in European strategy, working closely with the European management team on social networking spaces such as Yahoo Answers. A spokesman added that Coppel will continue in the role with a clear focus on Yahoo users, both consumers and the advertisers looking to reach them.
Yahoo confirmed that Vidal is leaving to another job opportunity, but could not comment further.
