Collective creates website for Adventure Ecology's Plastiki expedition

LONDON - Ecological expedition firm Adventure Ecology has appointed digital creative agency Collective to build a website for its forthcoming expedition from San Francisco to Sydney in a 60ft catamaran made out of plastic bottles, srPET plastic and recycled waste products.

The website, which will track the adventure of the catamaran, dubbed the Plastiki, in real time, will form an extension to existing portal.

The new site, scheduled to launch in early April, will feature webisodes, video footage, photography and regular editorial updates, as well as 3D images of the boat, which is due to set sail in the Spring.

David de Rothschild, founder of Adventure Ecology, said: "The Plastiki expedition aims not only to bring attention to out-of-sight and out-of-mind issues facing our planet but also to act as a catalyst to activate change by bringing smart solutions to the world's attention.

"It is our intention that the site will captivate and inspire its audience to become agents of change by allowing individuals to interact with the adventure via regular updates, photos, footage, data and research.

"It is so important that both the issues and the solutions are shared with as many people as possible."

Greg Doone, managing director of Collective, said: "We have a lot of experience in delivering visually stunning websites that have the ability to excite an audience, as well as communicate an important message."
