Cannes unveils inaugural direct and interactive agency of the year trophies

LONDON – Cannes is to introduce a Direct Agency of the Year and Interactive Agency of the Year award for the first time this year to honour the top scoring agencies in Lions Direct and Cyber Lions at the 52nd International Advertising Festival.

The calculation for Direct Agency of the Year will be based on all of the awards won by an agency in the Lions Direct competition, but will include a maximum of 10 points for shortlisted entries. The trophy will be awarded in Cannes on June 21.

The Interactive Agency of the Year award, to be awarded on June 22, will be based on all the awards won in the Cyber Lions competition, with the same rules applying, ie a maximum of 10 points for shortlisted entries. If there is a tie, the importance of prizes awarded will be taken into account.

Terry Savage, festival chairman, said: "Just as the Agency of the Year award honours the highest scoring agency for entries in press, outdoor and film, the time is right to also honour the top scoring agencies in Lions Direct and Cyber Lions."

The scores for the awards will be calculated with Grand Prix taking 10 points, Gold Lion seven, Silver Lion five, Bronze Lion three, and shortlist position one point.
