MSN taps Cannes Lions-winner Bogusky for creativity

LONDON - Alex Bogusky, whose agency Crispin Porter + Bogusky won the Cannes Grand Prix for the Ikea 'lamp' ad last year, has been drafted in by MSN to promote creativity in online advertising.

He is one of several leading advertising creatives taking part in a programme called MSN Creative Connection, the aim of which is to give pioneers in print, broadcast and outdoor advertising free reign to push the boundaries of online marketing.

Bogusky is an executive creative director at Miami-based Crispin Porter + Bogusky and has worked on other well-known campaigns such as Mini, Virgin Atlantic Airways and the wildly successful "subservient chicken" viral campaign for Burger King.

He said: "The days of traditional advertising on traditional media alone are over. The MSN programme allows us to explore new ways to reach consumers, to really push the boundaries with online advertising in ways we might not have been able to do without support from MSN."

He is joined on the programme by Deutsch New York's Kathy Delaney and co-creative directors at Wieden & Kennedy New York, Ty Montague and Todd Waterbury.

Delaney is managing partner and executive creative director for Deutsch NY and has worked on campaigns such as Snapple, Monster and Revlon. Montague and Waterbury have worked on advertising for brands such as Nike, Sega Sports and Avon.

The people, and the agencies for which they work, will develop fully integrated advertising campaigns for the client of their choice, using resources offered by the MSN creative Custom Solutions team.

The campaigns they create will appear across MSN starting in autumn.

Eric Hadley, director of marketing at MSN, said: "Of all the media options available to marketers today, online offers the richest palette of options for reaching consumers -- sight, sound, motion and interactivity -- along with the high-end demographic advertisers covet, but it is not being used to its greatest potential."
