A BT Cellnet leaflet, advertising mobile phones, offered free access to the mobile internet for a limited period each month.
The headline stated that the free minutes could be used for "mobile internet access in the UK and abroad", but the footnote contradicted the headline, stating that the offer excluded international calls and internet access.
The ASA upheld the complaint and BT Cellnet admitted that there was a mistake on the leaflet.
BT Cellnet said that the customer had been refunded and it intended to refund any other customers who had been wrongly charged. However, the company only took these steps after the ASA had become involved.
