The print ad, which launched over the weekend, leads with the line: "Introducing the people who are keeping our flag flying."

It states: "Thanks to the efforts of our colleagues and special volunteers from all over British Airways, we have flown 325,000 customers to where they need to be this week.

"In the last five days, we've flown to 87% of our long haul and 100% of short-haul destinations, including all of our flights from Gatwick and London City airports. Together, we are confident that we will keep flying through any further industrial action."

Members of the Unite union commenced a five-day strike last Monday, the first of three scheduled walk-outs.

Unite estimates that the five days of industrial action has cost BA £84m.

Union members started another five-day strike on Sunday and today (1 June), the two sides are due to hold fresh talks.
