Bmi relies on flickr in site redesign

LONDON - Bmi has begun overhauling its website in a bid to attract new business travellers. The new site features images of London's skyline taken from Yahoo!'s photo sharing website flickr.

The landscape aerial shots on the homepage have been chosen to evoke the sensation of looking out of an aircraft window and will be refreshed every few weeks, according to the airline. Bmi also plans to update the images to reflect the time of day and seasons.

Bmi said that its in-house ecommerce team and agency Prospect aimed to bring a simple navigation structure to the site, enabling customers to access information they need in the fewest number of clicks.

The next stage of the redesign will include a renewed registration processes, easier access to bookings, an updated frequent flyer member area and new web feeds. Partner information, such as hotels and carparks will also be integrated with the site.

Bmi aims to complete the site relaunch by October 26, when the airline announces its winter schedule.
