Blogging arrives on Telegraph website

LONDON - The Telegraph Media Group has launched 'My Telegraph', a blogging community allowing users to post their own views and comments on the Telegraph's website.

The initiative enables registered bloggers to save articles to read later in the day, upload photographs and collate all their comments in one stream called 'My Comments'.

The group has introduced blogging to encourage users to spend more time on the site. The Telegraph will encourage users to blog with on-screen advice, tips and a frequently asked questions section.

Shane Richmond, Telegraph.co.uk communities editor, said: "Our primary focus is to keep 'My Telegraph' simple and as user-friendly as possible. Very little web expertise is required in order to get started, which we hope will encourage people who may never have blogged before to join our community.

"As part of the planned expansion of the 'My Telegraph' community, we will shortly be adding a facility which will allow Telegraph bloggers to meet other bloggers who share similar interests."

TMG has partnered with technology company Cisco for the site and neo@Ogilvy facilitated the deal.

Separately, The Telegraph is to launch a new channel on its website this week called the Earth Channel.

The new channel will provide news and features on environmental matters, as well as giving users a chance to share their opinions and photographs about green issues.
